One step at a time

I spent all of my afternoon at PTE Katok (Katok Sixth Form Centre) to meet up with my bnad, Triablos. They all still attend school while I have already graduated. I'm the second eldest in the band, the eldest is Jack Iskandar (Guitarist + Male vocalist), third came Izam (drummer). Actually they were only three of us, but Izam brings Yana in as our vocalist.

The reason why I wanted to meet up with them is because I know they have no experience being in a band before.. I realized that things will get harder on in the future because they are sitting for their biggest exams; GCE Advanced Level, and that there's this fact about Izam doesn't have a drum and I haven't bought my bass amp yet. Usually with Lolly de Sora, we jamm almost every weekend. Seeing their faces everyday makes me feel like I'm home. I really admire my old band.. Its because we have an image; gothic punk. They are professionals. My drummer was a graduate from Expression Music. The instruments are complete; at least 3 amps, two drums (one electronic and another is the real live drum), our guitarist is an expert, our pianist can play guitar, drum and piano, we have two bassist, ones a newbie and another starts off as a guitarist. Then later came me, their vocalist. we only done one gig after I joined but it was hell of a fun!! We all dressed as gothic punk from Japan and me being the only one who can speak Japanese in the band makes the crowd thinks that they have imported me from Japan >_<

Now with this new band, I just don't know. I want us to have an image, have a genre (previously we play japanese rock and american rock), write some songs. The reason why we bring Yana in was because she can compose song, then Jack and I will try to put in some melody; Jack starts off, I improvise. But so far?.. .. I don't know. Jack's genre and I are heavy metal, while Izam just rock and then Yana is more into ballad. So when Jack showed us a logo he made (a skeleton with 3 horns), for me its ok, but for Yana.. I don't know. Its just not her type.

I beginning to doubt what we will become. This band is really.. I know we've just started forming, but I'm used to working with the experienced.. the pros. The thing that bugs me the most was, I'm a vocalist, I feel demoted when my position as the female vocalist in the band has been changed to only a bassist and got replaced by Yana. Maybe I am not ready to let go yet.

Yana is a real newbie, she doesn't know stage act, she has stage fright, she can't play any musical instrument.. and I'm really afraid she'll change our image, heavy metal.

They are.. really normal.. I can't see any unique qualities in them. Rather than my old band, sometimes we went out dressing up in goth costumes and watch a movie or so. To us its normal, but to the crowd, its a culture shock, and we like that. Guess I really miss my old band.. We were disbanded in February 2010.. internal conflicts.

I miss my Lolly de Sora.. I miss Hafiz, Kim, Junior, Jazz and Nipi. What we had was really awesome guys.. and I really wish I can jamm with you guys once in a while.

So far for this band, I'll try. Maybe this one is a lucky one. I'll help them out in any way I can. I'll train them if I can. I'll promote them.

All about me

Can't really say I am innocent other than my look. There is just so much of me that can't be describe overnight.. You'd just have to explore me yourself =3 But there are some which I can explain for you.

First of all is my name, which is actually pronounced as Shen. None of my family members ever call me by my real name, they call me Oshin. Okay now I am seriously not making this up, but they told me that I look like a japanese when I was a kid, and my name is actually Shin, then my grandma started to call me Oshin. We are actually muslim chinese. There are three members with japanese name; Akira, Akenishi and me (Oshin).

It is an adaptation that I grew up with.. Japanese culture. Up to the point that I was given formal lessons on Japanese language. Within the time I self-taught myself Korean language and basic mandarin (although we're chinese my family doesn't send me to Chung Hua). Now I can speak, read and write in Japanese, korean and mandarin. I shall continue my studies in those area even though I have already graduated from college.

I love animals and I really wish I can have a white arctic wolf~~ Just a fantasy.. but I think dangerous animals are cute. Oh no, I am not afraid of snakes =3 At home I have 7 cats and a turtle, but I used to 4 hamsters, a guinea pig, some guppies and fighting fish, a rabbit and a couple of dove.

My father used to be a silat master. I attend Silat classes when i was 7-10 years old. Then I quit and my dad got disappointed when I joined Wushu instead >_<

Music is my life, can't seem to depart myself from it ever since I'm 12. I joined the choir club back when I was in Form 1 and trained to be a soprano singer. It wasn't until 2005 that I'm into dancing. I started off idolizing a boy group, DBSK. One day I was dancing to their song, Rising Sun, when someone spotted me. Soon after I got recruited in her dance crew and now I am an active dancer of Y.E.A. Crew (Young Energetic Amigo Crew). Being in the dance crew really changed my life in so many ways. I learn to respect others, be more confident in myself and improve myself to meet people's demands. I have to admit I was a really bad dancer, but now?.. hehehehehehe You can judge me yourself. I do ballroom (both standard and latin ballroom), lyrical, pop, contemporary hip hop and a little bit of b-boy.

I also learnt how to play musical instrument. It started of as an experiment, but then grew up as my passion. Although my parents are seriously, totally against me playing music, whether singing, dancing or playing musical instruments. I don't care, its my life, my future. I am currently studying at Expression Music where I have to pay for my tuition myself (Its hard T_T) and wish I can complete my piano course until Diploma level. I play piano, guitar and bass (Actually reading musical notes, not tabs for guitar and bass). Being a vocalist also helps me improve my vocal performance. I have switched band from Lolly de Sora, to Triablos as of February 2010. I have switched my position from a vocalist to a bassist + female vocalist.

Oh yeah.. my genre of music. I must say.. symphonic metal, a very good example would be Nightwish. I enjoy classicals, pop, R&B, rock and many more. I find that my style kinda mimics my favorite band, the GazettE (a visual kei band from japan). I LOVE VISUAL KEI!!!~~~ AND GOTHIC LOLITA!!
